God of all creation,

Things are happening in our nation
You didn’t ordain.

Your children are bickering
Unbelievers are snickering
Because our light is flickering.

You saw this coming
You sent us a warning
And what’s so alarming

Is we ignored you
Acting like we adored You
But our behavior abhorred You.

Now we are facing
An opportunity so amazing
It could be the defacing

Of the enemy of truth.

Help us not miss
What’s at the root of this
Division and crisis.

On our knees we fall
Confessing it all.
We’re appalled

By the dimness of our light.
We’re almost out of sight!
We need You to ignite

Us again.

Amen
