God woke me up this morning
There must be something
He wants me to do;

Someone to love
Someone to pour into.

God woke me up today
So I must take my place;

Put these feet on the ground
And restart my race.

Because, for some reason
God is trusting me
To bring a smile to someone’s face.

Is it possible that
I hold the answer
To someone’s desperate prayer?

Could I be the one in possession
Of genuine love to share?

Could I be the hands of God
As I show how much I care?

Perhaps there is someone
Who really needs a hug,
A smile–a listening ear
Or two.

God woke me up today
There must be something
He wants me to do.

I’m glad I’m awake.
